Planning a Michigan Country Club wedding might not be as hard as you think. In fact, there are so many things I love about Country Club & Golf Course weddings. In this blog post, I would love to share some simple tips to plan a successful Michigan Country Club Wedding.
Based on my experience photographing golf course weddings, here are some common questions you might have.
How Do I Know If A Country Club Wedding Is Right for My Wedding?
If you love a gorgeous, glamorous outdoor affair, a country club wedding might be right for you! First of all, country clubs are well known for their well-manicured lawns and stunning interiors. In other words, you can take advantage of the natural scenery and incorporate the backdrop into your décor.
Also, if most of your wedding guests are coming out of town, a venue like this can save them a lot of trouble! For example, they don’t have to worry about parking space. Most golf courses feature amenities that ensure your guests’ privacy and comfort.
Above all, on-site accommodations for out-of-town guests will be much appreciated. You don’t have to worry about your guests’ safety after partying all night long.
What do Wedding Photographers Love About Golf Course Weddings?
To begin with, golf courses provide the best backdrop for wedding portraits! You can easily find beautiful landscaping such as lakes, ponds, fountains, bridges or flowers in every country club or golf course.
Secondly, having both your ceremony and reception in the same location saves everyone SO MUCH time and make your wedding day less stressful. After all, you don’t want your wedding photographers spending too much time traveling between locations within wedding photography coverage.
Lastly, most country clubs have backup plans for your outdoor wedding. I can’t stress enough the importance of having a “Plan B” for your wedding day. In the event of rain, it will be easy to transport every décor and your guests in a short amount of time.
- Prepare golf carts for you, the wedding party and your photographers during portrait sessions.
- Talk to your wedding photographer about your location preferences for your photos prior to your wedding day.
How Many Hours of Photography Do I Need for A Country Club Wedding?
The answer varies depending on locations. You have to take into account the travel time and ceremony time if you are getting married in a church. Also, if you need to get ready in a third location, that would take up much more time (which is not recommended).
In general, you will need at least an 8-hour package for an average-size wedding (about 100-150 guests). It also depends how much getting ready shots, detail shots you want for your wedding day. If you need help with wedding timeline, download my FREE Bridal Guide HERE.
Honestly, I would recommend discussing your wedding photographer before you decide on the coverage time!
What’s the Ideal Ceremony Start Time for a Michigan Country Club Wedding?
Again, it depends on the end time designated by your venue. Particularly, you want to take the end time and sunset time into consideration. However, the easiest way is to design a timeline that is working backwards from the end.
For example, for a Michigan Country Club wedding in summer, consider starting the ceremony later-at 5 or 6 p.m.-to avoid the mid-afternoon heat as the sun doesn’t’ set until 9pm.
Of course, depending on the weather and season where your wedding will take place, you may want to limit the your ceremony time to 20-30 minutes.
